Steeple Langford II, May 23 '09 (home)
Whiteparish won by 142 runs
Good Points
• First win of the season.
• A special appearance for Whiteparish by Bollywood celebrity Chris Patel.
• Massive runs for the Big Duck (109*) and a maiden century for the Captain (106*).
• A record partnership of 265 not out between the Big Duck and Captain Flap.
• A huge total of 284 for 1 off 42 overs.
• No ducks today.
• 57 extras from the opposition including 33 wides and 10 no balls.
• Great opening bowling from Jack (10-1-38-2) and Mr Magoo (10-4-17-1).
• Kevvie bowling 28 balls before a run was scored off him.
• The Great Bartelli and Clumsy – the new Waldorf and Stadler (Muppet Show).
• “Give it some welly, Bartelli” comment from Mr Noisy.
• The Great Bartelli now used as a stock bowler rather than a wicket taking bowler.
5 wickets on dayboo almost a year ago and then nothing since. Just a net bowler now really.
• Steve’s champagne moment run-out (1 stump to aim at, yards out).
• Another great 5 over spell from Steve (5-2-11-2).
• Birdman’s Rain Man ability to workout the required run rate to more decimal places than Pi.
• Taking the piss out of Lord Harris at the Kings Head afterwards.
Bad Points
• Mr Noisy out to a 13 year old called Alan Partridge.
• The Great Bartelli’s dropped catch at slip.
• Magoo’s wrong-un – still wrong after all these years.
• The Great Bartelli getting in a strop when taken off because he wasn’t getting wickets –
see comment above reference now being just a net bowler.
• Clumsy now needing a bat stop even for slow bowlers.
• Due to the ongoing pavilion work, Clumsy not being able to share his special shower
gel with his opposition friend after the game.
• No sight of Javed for a month now alleviating fears that he’s joined the Taliban.
• Lord Harris grooming the Youth in the Kings Head afterwards. “Leader of the Gang” indeed.
Summary
Whiteparish 284 for 1 off 42 overs (Mike C 109*, The Captain 106*, Mr Extras 57)
Steeple Langford II 142 for 9 off 42 overs (Jack 10-1-38-2, Kevvie 10-4-17-1, Steve 5-2-11-2)
