Broughton, May 16 '09 (away)
Broughton won by 54 runs
Good Points
• Great bowling by Jack against the formidable Ian Bussey.
• Getting Bussey out for only 125 and restricting him to 10 sixes.
• Funny comments from the Great Bartelli to encourage Jack – “You’ve
got him in a flap, Jack” the pick of many (others worthy of note – “That’s a
cracker, Jack,” “Unlucky, that’s just a bit high, Jack”).
• The Great Bartelli being called a twat by the batsman after saying,
“He’s given that a smack, Jack.”
• The Great Bartelli’s comments again but this time to encourage Steve –
“Lets have another gem, Mr Jewell.” “That’s diamond, Mr Jewell” and “What a
pearler” were others to keep us entertained.
• Good bowling at the death by Steven Jewell helped by the Great Bartelli – see above.
• A brave team effort at chasing down 236.
• A partnership of 130 between Mr Noisy (76) and Captain Flap (66).
• Clumsy and Birdman playing safe and not attempting to “run” twos.
• Birdman’s batting average now bigger than his girth.
• The Great Bartelli not getting a duck, 0 not out at the end.
• Taking the piss out of Lord Harris at the Kings Head afterwards.
Bad Points
• Mr Noisy failing to get his bunny Bussey out.
• Clumsy’s dalek-like attempt at catching the ball.
• Broughton tea. More food available in a Harare supermarket.
• Coulshed Senior being christened the Big Duck by Coulshed Junior.
• Coulshed Senior’s bad guffs – needs to stay off that women’s anti-bloatiness Actimel
stuff and stick a cork up there instead.
• 3 Juniors getting 1 run between them. That’s now a total of 1 run in 7
Junior innings – previous comments from the Littleton report still valid.
• In 2 matches, the 2nds batting has now totalled 9 ducks.
• The Great Bartelli, a teacher, struggling to understand the simple task of
scoring and giving byes against the bowler.
Summary
Broughton 236 for 4 off 42 overs (Jack Orr 10-0-35-2, Steven Jewell 5-0-13-2)
Whiteparish 182 for 9 off 42 overs (Sven Hocking 76, Captain Flap 66, Birdman 17*)
