2nd XI vs East Tytherley II, Regional 3 North West (home) July 19 '08

Whiteparish recorded their biggest win of the season against a rather depleted Tytherley side. Tytherley Pete was called up into the 1sts which had denied Parish the chance to whack his bowling all over the place. Apparently, their first choice drinks carrier had a touch of the two bob bits.

Lofty, too, had been called into the 1sts but not on merit according to Pondy.

Whiteparish were put into bat and got off to a tidy start despite both Mike and Sven being dropped early on. The first wicket fell in the 12th over as Mike fannyed one up to the keeper with the score on 56. The 2nd wicket followed soon after as Sven was once again stuck in the setting concrete unable to move his feet and was bowled.

Junior Magoo and Captain Flap then put on a few before Josh was caught and bowled which caused him to chuck his dolls about. Despite this, his cameo of 25 did include some rather nice drives through the covers. Javed then came to the crease and with those horrible images from the previous week of the Laverstock Lardies, Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncy still fresh in his mind he proceeded to whack the ball to the boundary with the aid of the extremely fast outfield.

Ably supported by the Captain, a partnership of 86 ensued before Flap was bowled for 49. Kevvie’s batting woes continued but Greg provided ample support for Javed as he swished his way past his first 50 in 5 years. The lunchtime cider soon caught up with him as he was triggered on a well made 72 with the score on 244.

Greg and Benny the Block pushed the score past 250 as Whiteparish closed their innings on 258 for 6 with Ben hitting the 7 year old for a 4 which I hope he was pleased with himself for doing. He must have been talking to Tubby Drew about smashing kids’ bowling to the boundary to “teach them a lesson.” Poor show in anyone else’s eyes except Mr Noisy’s who now’s been officially declared insane for going off on a pot hunting crusade.

After another rude tea with Mein Host Graham Dear (who also picked on the 7 year old) and lots of piss offs and up yours you ‘orrible bastard, Whiteparish got off to the best possible start by getting danger man Pondy out in the 2nd over. Another bunny to add to Sven’s impressive list of scalps this season!

It took another 11 overs for the rot to really set in as wickets started to tumble at regular intervals. With some great triggering by both umpires aided by a run-out after a fabulous direct hit from the boundary by Sean, the Tytherley innings dribbled to a close despite the 7 year old at the end scoring more runs and lasting longer in the middle than Pondy.

One piece of fielding worthy of note was the Bird’s dropped catch as the ball failed to lodge in his cleavage.

It was then back to the KH to take the piss out of Harris and to honour the contract signed last year exchanging him for Lofty.

Summary

Whiteparish 258 for 6 off 42 overs (Javed Malik 72, Rich DaCosta 49, Mike Coulshed 28, Josh Green 25)

East Tytherley II 69 all out off 32.4 overs (Kevvie Masterman 11-2-29-3, Mr Noisy 11-5-21-3)
